Hello to all my followers !

Spring is finally appearing to look like its on its way, with the sun recently attempting to break through, what better way to remind you of Spring than the wonderful day that is Mothers Day! If you haven't already thought of ideas for what you and your Mum can get up to....That's where I can help!

The Body Shop in Wakefield, Trinity Walk are hosting a special lock in evening on the 12th March (which is a Thursday!) between the times of 6pm and 8.30pm! This is perfect for if you want to come along and look at gifts to buy your Mum or why not even bring her with you to be pampered ?

You can even get discount of 25% off when using code 19804 with a minimum spend of £5.00. Bargain!

The event as it stands is called 'Very Important Mummies' true to its name, it's time for you to return all the favours and treat her to her favourite smelly s.

As this is a special event, invitation is by invite only, I've been advised by the assistant manager, that there is only 13 tickets left ! So if you want to be part of this fruitful event then make sure you get down to the Wakefield branch to secure your ticket. Tickets are priced at £5.00, however this is redeemable on the night and you can choose how you then wish to spend this on any of your chosen products.

The staff at the branch are super friendly and go above and beyond to make sure they give you all the advice you need, I've even had a few questions pointed my way, about what products work best for different skin tones. I'm personally obsessed with the Vitamin E range at the moment and will be doing an upcoming blog on this fabulous range.

A few things to look out for when you are looking for something new is the best sellers, which I have shown below for you to feast your eyes on;

Career Planning, Hard work is paying off.

Hello my beautiful readers,

Since my last post, I have had so many lovely messages regarding the review I did on some of the latest products that The Body Shop has introduced to their UK Stores. I am glad it’s made people more aware of what’s on offer. I will be doing more reviews on some more products from there in the upcoming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.

I have been working on updating my blog, and making it easier to search for by changing the domain name, as you can now use www.makeupislife.co.uk to locate it, I will also be looking to revamp the page within the year! Any suggestions on what you would like to see are welcome J

THE EXCITING NEWS, regarding my application for Level 3 Media Make up, Hair and Special Effects, I had my interview at the place I wish to study last Tuesday and I am absolutely thrilled to be offered a place there, and even more happy to share below what I had to do to gain a place. Roll on September 2015!

When I first received the brief in the post, I was a little nervous because at the time, my immensely ridiculous immune system meant I was poorly again and couldn’t focus on anything. I had 2 weeks to think of ideas and practice them… (argh!)

By the second week, I started to feel a lot better, trying to fit everything in around a full time job and college was a challenge, but once I got my head around what I wanted to do, it all seemed to go to plan.

The Brief:
I had to collect images from a current fashion collection by a designer I found inspirational… I choose Alexander Mcqueen, his works always inspired me, not only that his life in general. If you aren’t already aware of how his life ended, then take a read, it’s quite heart wrenching, and makes me feel really sad that a lot of successful people lose their way when they gain so much public attention.

The Task:
Produce a Make Up and Hair plan for the collection that demonstrates creativity and a flair for fashion, then document this onto a mood board and practice the final look on either myself or a model.

The Interview:
I didn’t know what to expect from the interview as it was 90 minutes long, it involved me and around another 20 potential student’s within a room listening to a presentation provided by the department’s tutors. To try and stand out from the others (as I really didn't know what the other struents were planning) I decided to use more 3D objects rather than just cut outs on magazines and paper. I used foam board, and a lot of colourful fabrics/art prepare for my final piece.

I met a few lovely girls there, some of which are looking to study Level 2, I was super lucky to get on to the Level 3 course, due to never having studied art in the past and with it being more advanced, the tutor who interviewed me mentioned that with the board I created, that I would be capable of going straight onto the Level 3 course. I still feel overwhelmed, when I attended the open day I was told that they had already interviewed over 150 people for only 4 classes available (2 of which are part time, which I will need to do to fit in around work) even more of a shock was.... I wasn't expecting to be offered a place that night!!!

See below for my work! Any questions on how I did certain things, just ask! I am more than happy to help people, as much as I have received help from people who already work in the field I am so hoping I get in to.

The Inspiration (Mood board and Hair Piece created)

The Final Look:

As demonstrated by my lovely friend Paula, who was patient enough to sit and allow me to do her hair and make-up for the ideas created.

Until my next post... remember strive to be happy, and always live in your day dream.

It's a pleasure to have been asked to recommend some products for you all to try out for yourselves! I didn't mention this in my last post but this is another amazing opportunity for me to learn more from the makeup/beauty industry! Thanks to the guys at Body Shop UK.

You may have already seen my posts on my social networking sites in relation to me now working with The Body Shop, Wakefield store but I've even more exciting news... You can also see my details within store on the local beauty wall! If you need any help from me or the guys there, don't hesitate to ask ! :)

on with the reviews...

Wonderblur - Nutriganics Drops of Youth range. rrp: £16.00

So you've tried a lot of different primers by now girls and maybe you're wanting to update your collection of skincare routine products, within its 30ml size I would definitely say The Body Shops version of the highly rated 'blur primer' is good for value at its bargain price.

You don't need to use a lot of product for it to glide effortlessly across your face or problem areas, I would recommend just a small pea sized amount and you will be guaranteed, this product will last you at least a few months.

For application apply after all your usual skincare routine (cleanse, tone and moisturise) and wait for your moisturiser to sink in. You might want to look at what else The Body Shop offers in relation to your daily skincare routine! The salons experts will be happy to assist you down at Trinity Walk in Wakefield, to fit your skin type! The best for my skin is the tea tree range.

One of the benefits I've found whilst using this product, is its wonderful for saving on my foundation! (Everyone loves a saving!) As I don't need to use as much as it blends so nicely on top. If you suffer from oily skin throughout the day this is perfect for a matte look as it has a hydrating technology of up to 12 hours with a flawless finish!  Give it a whirl and see how you get on!  :)

Shimmer Cubes - Palette 32 – rrp. £16.00

If you're into a shimmery eye, this look is the one for you! I've been a fan of the shimmer cubes for a few years now and I've had several different versions, however I loved that I was given this lovely spring 2015 one to trial, if you're like me and hate the winter, this has made me feel better knowing spring will be here soon and these colours were made to brighten up your day.

I wear contact lenses, so if you're also a contact lens wearer these are 100% safe to use with! Most make up is this day in age but it's good to check what won't aggravate your eyes.

I used the 'Wonderblur' on my eye lids too to help keep the colour in place for an all-day look! You can use this palette with a dry or wet brush, which is perfect for how intense you would like the colour to be. (In my picture) I used a dry look and lined my eyes after application alongside mascara. I've known these palettes to last a long time so I think value for money at a small £16.00 isn't badly priced for something you could pay over double for at competitive companies.

The best thing about this palette is. You can really play around with the colours, find what suits you. I think they work perfectly for fair coloured girls like myself as it contrasts well against pale skin and green eyes. The 'Shimmer Cube' comes in a range of different colours, so why not stock up on a few for different looks? :)

Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick - rrp £12.00

Lip and Cheek pencils are a popular purchase for most woman, these products remind me very much of the 'Clinique Chubby stick' range, as they are new to launch in Spring 2015 in five different shades. I tested out the Coral shade.

This perfectly compact product, promised a velvety texture on my skin, very easy to apply and had a slight floral aroma!

I love how you can use this as a lip colour or add a flush of colour to your cheek bones.

Universal Shade - Lip and Cheek Velvet Stick  - rrp - £12.00

Now... Don't be put off at how odd this product looks as its ... yes you can see ... Black.

It was my most interesting product to try out as it baffled me how it works, with its unique formula it can be used on lips and cheeks to deliver a poppy/berry colour by reacting to your own personal pH level.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the colour it goes on me but I have swatched below for you to see. The more you apply the intensity increase therefore a deeper colour. I think I'm just so used to pastel colours, and this is why I can't get used to it been so dark on me.

It's a nice matte look so you can accompany with lipgloss if you feel the need, however I like the matte effect. This also matches the same price as the previous Velvet Stick shown above at only £12.00. If you want to try something a little of of the ordinary, then why not invest in this universal velvet stick, it can change colours with how hydrated/ dehydrated you are.

and there you have it!
Don't forget to go down and see the products for yourselves and make great savings on the 5th and 6th February! Let me know what you get! I may well be popping down myself on the 6th to test out some more of the new range.

Hope to see you there!
